Age 4 reading starts here!

I wrote about this wonderful little wooden dry wipe board last week, and we’ve been using it to great effect to help BigG with his reading. He’s really keen to learn but don’t want to overwhelm him or force too much, so every meal time I write three or four words on the board for him to read. We’re all sitting together so we chat about the letters, sounds, words and it’s a really nice casual way for him to learn. This morning at breakfast we did words containing “ee” – first as singulars, then once he’d mastered those I added an “s” to each of them so we could discuss plurals. He got a bit stuck on “tree” – “r” is the letter he struggles to pronounce the most – but he got them all pretty confidently.

This wee dry wipe board is just so handy and nice to touch, would highly recommend one!
